The experience of interpersonal trauma such as in childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault compromises one’s capacity for intimacy. For survivors, sexual intimacy can be a triggering part of the relationship evoking fear, anxiety, and re-experiencing of events, further exacerbating the shame, guilt, and blame tied to the traumatic experiences.

This 8-week group facilitates caring and empathic discussions about emotions and meanings surrounding sexual intimacy, and further places emphasis on self-care, trust, respect, and pleasure.

Participants are recommended to attend individual psychotherapy during participation in the group either at Core Psychotherapy Center or another facility.
